Structured Cabling Design and Installation
By: Bruce G. Kreeger
Digital communication has become the backbone of every organization these days. With advancements in technology, the exchange of information has become hassle-free, but only if you have the right network cable design and proper installation – tailored specifically for your business needs.
If you are still stuck with the old traditional ways of transferring data, then you lag behind because remember, communication is a key asset of any business. You need a reputable cable designer and installer such as Clarity that offers you advanced telecommunication solutions with the right assets installed.
What do You need To Know About telecommunications?
When talking about telecommunication channels, wireless tech is the only thing that pops up in conversations. But you need to understand that wireless technology doesn’t work on its own. A specialized cabling system, adequately structured, designed, and installed, helps transfer all modes of data ranging from voice, data, and video to telemetry/sensor applications.
Choosing the right optical-fiber cable for the network is the most challenging aspect of setting up a cabling structure. For modern needs, one needs an optical-fiber line suitable for transferring high bandwidth, supporting robust telecommunication, and offering flexibility and upgradability for future updates.
What Do We Offer At Clarity?
Clarity focuses on advanced technology, tailored cabling network solutions, and state-of-the-art asynchronous cabling modes to provide a cabling design that supports fast speed data transfers, imaging systems, and high-speed networks. With our expertise and experience in the networking industry, we are here to help provide a wide range of services, including;
1- Choosing The Right Cables
Based on their functionality, various cables are available in the market, specifically Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat 7, and Fiber. We are here to help you find and install the most suitable ones out of all. So, let us go ahead and discuss them in detail.
Cat5 – The cable is the older version of the Cat5e cable. The cable offers the transferring speed of 100Mb per second at 100m wire length and 100MHz bandwidth in terms of specifications. You can take it up to 1GB but yet they are still not the most preferred option by the users.
Cat5e – This cable is similar to the Cat5 cable, but the ‘e’ in the name suggests an enhanced version that offers 1GB transferring speed per 100m. Its twist pair design reduces cross talk and interference of surrounding signals, which makes it great for offices.
Cat6 – It is an eight-wire twisted cable with the transferring speed ranging from 1 GB to 10 GB at 164 feet length. Cat6 offers an efficiency of 250MHz and had Gigabit Ethernet, which works at 100m. Its enhanced speed features make it suitable to work with BASE-T ethernets.
Cat6a – In the cabling Ethernet series, it is the latest version. The ‘a’ stands for augmented, which means it is more capable than its previous Cat6 cables. Its bandwidth ranges from 250MHz to 500MHz, which is double that of previous cables. These cables are comparatively thicker than other Cat6 range categories, Cat6 and Cat6e, which make them challenging to run.
Cat7 – The cable has a bandwidth of 40Gb per second over the distance of 50m. Each wire is separately shielded, which gives it its thicker appearance. Furthermore, the cable works similar to the Cat6e but at a lower price.
Fiber – The cable is composed of glass fibers and insulated wires, which make it suitable for long-distance networking and transferring of high-end data. You can enjoy data transfers at the speed of light, but it is more expensive.
2-UPS (battery backups)
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) works much like a backup generator that provides power to connected electronic devices if there are any fluctuations in the power supply. Sudden power breaks can often destroy the system’s processor, which is why installing a UPS is an essential investment for businesses these days. These UPS’ are available in three different types naming standby, line-interactive, and double conversion, so you can opt for the one that best suits your business needs.
Advantages of UPS
- It is affordable for everyone
- It is limited to zero noise.
- It can protect gadgets from unusual voltage regulations.
- Reliable Battery backup
The good thing about UPS is that their batteries are recyclable. According to the Battery council, you can recycle a battery of up to 97%.
3-Rack and Cabling Management
Cable management and networking is the most challenging aspect for network installers at times. With tons of cables wired here and there, even the server managers can sometimes make mistakes if the cables are not properly managed. Therefore, we offer different types of cable managing solutions, including the following, which help you streamline things and avoid disastrous situations.
Horizontal – The horizontal management is best suitable for fiber optics, coax, and copper wirings. When you deal with many complicated cables, this can help you manage cables in a stepwise manner.
Vertical – In this management solution, airflow and skillfulness are well catered for. It is similar to the previous category, but the only difference is that the orientation of cables is vertical.
Cable Tray – This management system can be further divided into many types. Thus, based on your requirements, we will suggest the one that is well suited for your needs. This type is best worked for hiding the wiring in the ceiling or the floors.
Fiber optic patches – As the name suggests, this management system is best suited for fiber optical cables only. But the good thing is that they are perfect for all applications in both homes and offices.
Failover management
The Failover Management System is used to cover for power situations where and when needed automatically. It works much like a UPS, but instead of no power supply, they come in handy when the power supply is limited or short to protect the system from damage.
In case the power slows down, the failover system automatically shifts the power source based on the system requirements. There are two types of failover systems naming;
- Active-active
- Active passive
