Our lives have been Changed by Technology

Over the years, technology has revolutionized our world and our daily lives. Technology has created amazing tools and resources, putting useful information at our fingertips.

Modern technology has paved the way for multi-functional devices like the smartwatch and the smartphone. Computers are increasingly faster, more portable, and higher-powered than ever before. With all these revolutions, technology has also made our lives easier, faster, better, and often more fun. With the addition of the “softphone”, our computers have become remote extensions of our offices, call centers, and much more.

In this article, we will cover how technology has impacted our lives in and out of the home, office, and elsewhere. Technology’s advancements have provided quicker ways to communicate through instant messaging apps and social media platforms. We can keep in touch with loved ones, while caregivers have new avenues to check in on aging parents or patients. Medical visits are routinely becoming more and more “tele-med” driven for safety and efficiency.

Technology has also given us brand new devices in recent decades, like smartwatches, tablets, voice assistant devices, and many other applications. With these devices, we can do things like transfer money instantly and make purchases for everything from clothes, food delivery, groceries, furniture, and more. Technology has changed how we entertain ourselves, meet each other, and consume all types of media. It has made major advancements; it has also made important gains in safety when it comes to security and medical devices. With the addition of the “Cloud” or hosted technology systems more and more companies and people are seeing faster and better results for all forms of computing storage and data driven operations, even at home.

With the advent of Unified Communications (UC) which is a business concept describing the integration of enterprise communication services such as instant messaging (chat), presence information, voice (including IP telephony), mobility features (including extension mobility and single number reach), audio, web and video conferencing, fixed-mobile convergence (FMC), desktop sharing, data sharing, call control and speech recognition with non-real-time communication services such as unified messaging (integrated voicemail, e-mail, SMS and fax). UC is not necessarily a single product, but a set of products that provides a consistent unified user interface and user experience across multiple devices and media types.

In its broadest sense, the UC can encompass all forms of communications that are exchanged via a network to include other forms of communications such as Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and digital signage communications as they become an integrated part of a network communications deployment and may be directed as one-to-one communications or broadcast communications from one to many.

UC allows us to send a message on one medium and receive the same communication on another medium. For example, one can receive a voicemail message and choose to access it through e-mail or a cell phone. If the sender is online according to the presence information and currently accepts calls, the response can be sent immediately through text chat or a video call. Otherwise, it may be sent as a non-real-time message that can be accessed through a variety of media.

In addition to UC,  we now have Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS).

Traditionally, large enterprise and smaller businesses had acquired and deployed their own communications infrastructure. This was by far the most economical approach, as businesses could deploy their own PBX switches and avoid the cost of individual phone lines for each employee. With the advent of IP and virtualization of the data center, the economics have shifted back in favor of a service provider model. The service provider invests in a virtualized data center, negating the need for the enterprise to do so, and offers a more flexible consumption model.

Prior to the cloud, service providers offered IP Centrex and Hosted communications services. These were almost identical to the UCaaS capability, except for the fact that “virtualization” has meant that the economics of UCaaS is so much more compelling.

Especially for remote workers and seniors, these devices and services are providing the freedom to work in place, to live independently, and to continue moving through everyday life with peace of mind. It opens new opportunities by helping with safety, mobility, and connectivity.

Since there are so many new technologies to keep track of, it can seem overwhelming to adapt. However, all these new technologies are designed to make your life easier. Even though it may not feel intuitive, learning how to use smart phones, smartwatches and voice assistants just takes a little bit of instruction and practice.

When it comes to the way we communicate overall, modern technology has had a powerful influence.

Digital technology has changed what people term as “media.” The influence of new technology on media is apparent since a media company is not necessarily a news platform anymore. A media company is now any company that helps pass information across the globe, including social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

The amount of active web users globally is now near 3.2 billion people. That is almost half of the world’s population. Every day, two million smartphones are sold around the world, and the amount of information we share shared on social media networks is phenomenal.

Social media is not the only big statement digital technology has made. Neither is social media the only way technology has had an impact in everyone’s life.

There is no denying that the future of technology will continue to revolutionize our lives. In a few years, driverless cars may be the norm for everyone, and robots will be commonplace in factories. Future technology is sure to transform our lives in unbelievable ways, but here we highlight the many common ways technology is changing our lives today.
